What is going on with Mikrotik?

Hi,

what’s happening to Mikrotik, train is far away from Ubiquiti in wireless systems for ISP :frowning:

  • outdoor AC devices like Disc - unavailable (for 2 months already in our country)
  • LHG available only in N (we need AC)
  • zero Wifi6 devices for ISP (outdoor units, or at least RB like RB911/2)
  • 60GHz products are far behind Ubiquiti in everything (client count for AP, wifi6 backup, distances …), only price is good

We have thousands tik devices, but now we have to decide if it is worth to stay in Mikrotik.

Or will any surprise news come?

Mikrotik wireless has been far behind ubiquiti for years now. Especially in the outdoor space, even more so in ptp solutions. Indoor they took forever to deploy WiFi wave 2. Their ax routers are a step in the right direction, but still lacking in features and quality compared to other ax wireless devices. Their focus mainly shifted to enterprise switches and routers. Mikrotik is still great here!

I don’t know where you are, but here in Canada mikrotik wireless is no longer a viable option to compete with systems like starlink in rural areas. We’re transitioning as much as we can to fiber as it’s being run in more and more places.

Agreed. Mikrotik wireless is not their strong suit. Routers and to a slightly less extent switches is where they shine.
Personally I have a bunch of Mikrotik routers and switches at home, but the WiFi is Meraki.

All devices are in stock at MikroTik. If “your country” has no stock, you should ask (not just refresh the webpage) your local distributor and they will order what you need

I had some months ago need for material. My usual distributor in Netherlands was out of stock. But a distributor in Latvia had plenty of what I needed.
So I ordered it there (and it was cheaper too :laughing: ).
Only took 2 days more to get it in my hands in Belgium.

I am from Slovakia, no local distributor has Disc AC, nor in Czech Republic or Poland. I just found some peaces in latvia getic.com but the price is much higher than I ussually order. So where is the problem?

With your distributor.
Ask them to order what you need.

Central stock is available, according to normis. THEY need to order from there and then you can order from them.

Or …

pay a higher price and order somewhere else. Sometimes that higher price can be neglected compared to the cost of not having the material.

You DO have a choice.

Each of our local distributors has this items ordered for a long time, one of them has availability 29.12.2023 (last week it was end of november) … Yes I know that I have a choice, but this situation is somehow strange and has happened for the first time in 10 years what I am ordering mikrotik products, so that is why I am disappointed and I don’t know why this is happening.

like said above, ask the distributors.
we have stock for a while now, since summer at least.

most likely distributor through nobody wants those devices and did not order

been waiting a while for hAP AC3 routers which have been out of stock for a while here in the US, but it seems they finally came in today. Over 10% of what just came into the US should be arriving to me next week.

It has come to my attention that the Disc Lite5 ac is EOL…and stores are already emptied for it.
This has been my versatile client and PtP device for years and it performs very well, what’s the reason for EOLing it?
What will your replacement be, and when will it be available at your distributors?
