Wifi 7 - MikroTik when???

It feels this huge.
You generally only notice these things for a week at most.
Mine is mounted on a wall. You notice it when there is some 23cm and 5cm tall disc on the wall.

Mikrotik made fun of cap xl size in their YouTube product video. And the cap xl is notably smaller than cap ax.

For me, something like hAP be2 (2.4 + 5 GHz) for cheap client routers and cAP be in the size of cAP ac would be ideal.

Ideally, hAP be2 would have active PoE in, but I don't think that will happen.

Everyone has different preferences. Some people will definitely notice. I've worked in offices that definitely have bigger APs; at least some Ciscos are around 30x30cm square. They are much better from a design (as in looks) perspective.

When you want to dissipate a bit more than 10W that the cAP ax does, you have to make choices. You can make it large, as Mikrotik did. You can make it smaller and then accept the higher temperatures which effect reliability and often cause "vent marks" on white walls because of the increased air (dust) temperature. You can include fans. You can expose aluminum heatsinks (maybe black anodized?)

I would have much preferred Mikrotik to actually limit the dissipation as a compromise, and instead of putting an ax3 in there, put an ax2 instead with the underclocked SoC. That would make for a much more reasonable design.

Well, there Is a (rather niche) market for architectural skins, example:
https://thewificonnection.com/skins/
besides various (usually stupidly expensive) "concealing solutions" (that are essentially recessed electric boxes).

cap ax comes with smoke detector skin from factory. But my smoke detectors are smaller, so you spot the difference.

Mikrotik uses Latvian signs e.g. on their product packaging. A top cover with mesh looks could really be an eyecatcher, without looking ugly - and more like a style element.

Well, you could get some cap Ax skins and cover your smoke detectors with them to give a uniform look ...

But smoke detectors are mounted on ceiling and this cap is mounted on the wall. People will ask what is different with this one.

Let's see what wifi7 devices are coming soon. Maybe I need to relocate the AP to ceiling.

Did we ever start allowing AI bots onto the forum? Some of the above sure reads that way

When I saw the last message was from you… I almost had a heart attack! Sadly still no news about the release :frowning:
