Wifi controller on hAP ax3 with onboard cap with cAP ax as a remote cap

Hi, I am sure others went through this, but I cannot find helping article regarding my issue.

I need to setup wifi controller on hAP ax3 with onboard cap and cAP ax as a remote cap. As soon as i enable CAP option, there is no ssid for devices to connect to, however, remote cap appears on controller interface, and configuration seems to be applied. I have spend hours trying to get this to work. Please help with this rocket science, i have installed classic capsman for a decade for clients.

If possible please outline all related settings from the beginning for the controller, onboard cap, and remote cap.
Thank you

Couple of pointers

  • Mikrotik Help pages - wifi -capsman
  • local radios can not be controlled by capsman controller but you can set them as local using the same config settings you would. You can even use provisioning.

Thank for reply.
local radios will go as local and remote cap will be controlled, will there be any issues with roaming?

If you like watching videos:

This is the official MikroTik channel on YouTube, explaining exactly your configuration.

By using CAPsMAN you have the best options for optimal roaming.

Appriciate the answer, however, i had seen the video and did everything as it showed. In video when Cap is configured and visible, you can see, Current Channel being empty. I have same thing, Cap shows controlled but its not serving.

  1. Set configuration.manager=capsman on CAP
  2. Enable caps logging both on CAPsMAN and CAP. See logs.
  3. Provide output
/interface/wifi
print

IIKa, thanks, apperantly, i have run out of time at the clien’t office. Tried this last year for another client, same thing, i ended up restocking the Cap.

I intend to keep this live and work on it in the lab in few days. bye for now.
