We have released a new Winbox version with many long requested features. Currently the new Winbox is still in Beta, but it works very well, and can be used alongside the old Winbox, without disturbing the operation of the router, or the old Winbox. You can download it on the mikrotik.com download page
• Group saved routers and keep big lists of them
• Sort by IP address, MAC, version etc.
• Filter and search in Saved or Neighbors
• Ability to keep Loader open when connecting
• Winbox can now self-upgrade
• If connection is lost, it will offer to reconnect later
• Log can be sorted, and now has columns
I would like to report when using the new Winbox beta in WINE on Ubuntu (12.04 LTS currently), it successfully loads my previous saved routers, but trying to add a group to the router makes it disappear from the list, cant find it with filters or anything.
When closing and re-opening, the missing routers are back, but without a group.
Would be great to have a dedicated Linux client, but thats a discussion for another day I fear
Maybe. I’m due to upgrade to 14.04 LTS soon and will be doing fresh installs of a lot of things, will report if the issue persists.
I found that if I hit SAVE twice, it still dissapears items from the menu, but after closing and returning it persists groups etc. So it’s workable.
One feature request for next beta: In ‘Neighbors’ I see it groups routers by MAC address with big inline headings. I think it would be good to be able to do the same with the GROUP setting in the Managed tab so instead of:
My thoughts after few minute test- some visual improvements would be excellent: tab windows opens in inconvenient default sizes and positions, some parts not visible (my PC resolution 1280x768)(example attached)
and windows taskbar icon is blurry (v2.2.18- clear)
Open log Window > Scroll to the bottom [due to starting scroll being on top]
Open New Terminal > log already doesnt auto-scroll
Type “:log warn test” into terminal > log still doesnt auto-scroll
tried the same steps, it does scroll down automatically when new command pasted in terminal. must be some specific thing in windows or else. I have MacOS with Wine and Winbox 3 beta 2
What is your sorting order in Log? Newest on top or newest on bottom?
My newest are on bottom, and I have to manually scrolled all the way down every time.
I have tested with:
Windows 7 SP1 x64, Winbox 3 beta2
Kali Linux x64, x86 Wine, Winbox 3 beta2
The window position can not be remembered between sessions. Or at least I can’t make it work. I am using the Exit button, not ‘X’.
And the autoscrolling that I’ve mentioned in another topic is not working properly. Yes it does work when you scroll down, but only if the buffer is full with lines otherwise it does not.
Was suprised seeing this new Winbox on the Website and i played a bit around with it, my discovery so far..
Winbox not saving sessions, after moving around several windows to my liking and restarting winbox, everything is gone, i loved that feature on the old Winbox, the checkbox “Load previous Session” was enabled.
Editing entrys is little bit buggy, after editing an entry and pressing save, sometimes some or all other entrys disappear, pressing save again sometimes help, restarting Winbox bring back all entrys.
