This one I haven't seen yet. Really weird.
I have a window in the upper right with BGP sessions, and below that (lower right) a window with Netwatch status. When opening a new session, the Netwatch window often has moved up and overlaps the BGP Window, while before there was a space between them. But it does not happen all the time and I have not found the way to always reproduce it.
Sorry, on what OS? Please
This is on Debian Linux with Xfce4 window manager and with WinBox fullsized (not with F11 but the fullsize icon in the WM), and with no window decorations on maximized windows.
Thanks, I still have similar problem when I'm Forced to use at same time M$ Excel and Winbox (on Windows)...
I wrote "Forced"...
Never had it, even with several subwindows - they always open where I left them, if I don't resize the main window.
Using Mint with Cinnamon and X11, not Wayland. Winbox window maximized, with decorations.
The reason I mention the full setup is that I think under some circumstances the program may use e.g. the size of the normal (not maximized) window to do the calculation, or maybe the OS first starts the program with that size and immediately re-sizes it (too quickly to see it) but the wrong calculation already has been made.
With small amount of information we have about the vulnerabilities that have just been patched by MikroTik, we have further evidence of why this "enhancement" with the SSH port open to the public is a bad idea:
We should stick to accessing the management interfaces through a VPN like WireGuard instead.
True, but all the time I fear the moment when the usual VPN services suffer a similar problem...
It seems up to now they have magically been unaffected, but why? In this case, a VPN using SSTP or PPTP could be affected as well, even though it is not mentioned here.
When standard IPsec or newfangled OpenVPN or Wireguard are affected, all hell breaks loose...
I think those normally use the user account information from /ppp secret, beside RADIUS. While the services listed use the authentication provided by /user, beside RADIUS. It could be that they used to be vulnerable too, but was corrected by the previous PPP security fixes in 7.23.2.
Hi team, can you add an option in Winbox to assign a color to interface types? That is, in the UI, make all VLANs have a color chosen by the user and physical interfaces a different color, or make it more customizable. I’m referring to the icon that appears next to the interface type or name, where this color could be applied, customizable according to the user’s preference.
Thanks for your attention.
Great idea...
Even if non-customisable, this would be a good thing.
I havn't used Winbox 4 in a looooong time as it just made want to vomit
I loathed to install 4.3 as its now mandatory for RouterOS 7.25 and..... I actually don't mind it.
I opened up 4.1 again just to be sure I wasn't just being crunty and yeah it made me vomit a little, was truly horrible. 4.3 is a major improvement. Font switched to Segoe UI (inter is still a bit too.... Apple? yuck) and i'll see how it goes as a daily driver
Only bug i've found so far (maybe already a workaround for it?) is windows getting stuck in the foreground when using the 'Opened Windows' selection (alt+a/s). Happens maybe 20% of the time where a window is always in front of everything else. Using the window selector another 1 or 2 times on a different window fixes it, but this is often enough its a PITA
check out WinBox 4.4rc released! - #6 by CGGXANNX!
theres also a lot of fixes to it too.
Just to add my two cents in regard of memory as a few have already mentioned.
This version 4 is consuming soo much RAM that it makes the winbox itself freeze at times. I don't get why so many developers never consider the resources. We are throwing multitasking out of window. Can keep open many instances of winbox, browser, mail ... at the same time
How many times do you need to run this app ?
Do a complain about Windows Edge instead thats loading in background of Windows, and take some memory.
Yes I know that you can disable that behavior, but how many people know that.
How much RAM do you have? I am interested in what configuration would be too small.
I am currently using a VM with 12GB RAM and it has absolutely no problem (under Linux). I would expect a 16MB RAM Windows machine to run OK.
I work as ISP and have core routers, customer routers. I do not use edge, I am a firefox user since day 1, still browsers require lots of RAM.
Today I obsvered nearly 500MB of RAM by winbox becuase while working on one router the windows where unresponsive/freezing.
It is not logical to have such a jump in RAM just for aesthetic purpose while neglecting the functional aspect. Is just a router for one's sake I am managing.
