THANK YOU! :folded_hands:

BIG step in the right direction, but needs one click too many if in toolbar.
Dropdown (only an arrow, maybe with text "more") should be there ONLY if there is not enough space for all of the items, which would rarely be the case because there are mostly just a few of them. Also, the name in right-side toolbar is "Actions", and in toolbar "Tools", which is not really consistent nor intuitive.

TODO: option to move the status bar to the top, not just show/hide.

Keep up the good work!

How about this?

:man_facepalming: Who will ever use it? There is a system close button just near settings button and it doesn't require to do 2 clicks. Your crazy devs should have WinBox 3 wallpaper on their desktops, on the walls, everywhere.

But I should admit, that this rc has much more progress compared to 4.2, than a whole "beta" phase.

IMHO WinBox 3 was not exactly the gold standard for great user interface design. Seeing it that way may be more about nostalgia or the idea that "everything was better in the past."

It's mostly related to layout. Everything is in place and not stupidly scattered around.
Regarding design, it's already about tastes. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Win98-like view, but compared to this nonsense in v4, it's better.

To be fair, this is not a particularly valid term of comparison.
Even L-Cars is better.

In Linux, at least in Xfce, there is a setting where you can remove the OS Window decorations when you maximize a window. I use that to have maximum real-estate for WinBox when working on a smaller screen.

Basically all you have is the taskbar and the remainder of the screen shows WinBox, no "system close button" or other stuff like a system window title, scrollbars, etc.

In that situation you can still close WinBox neatly by right-clicking on its taskbar button and select "close", but maybe not everyone knows that.

Is it possible to move that column to the menu line too to recover so much lost space?

Yes I do the same in Xfce, and in this case, the new implementation in WinBox 4 requires the same amount of clicks als using the context menu on the taskbar button.

Yes to this. Of course, there is the issue that we'll have "clickable areas" with only labels and no icons, beside the other standard items with colorful icons.

Ok. Anyway, it's not the right place, and the button should be available within one click, like in WinBox 3.
And what this menu item has common with "Settings" is another question to the devs...

There is no menu line in settings dialogs, what do you mean? Better return OK/Cancel/Apply buttons and Enable/Disable buttons to this place.

Yes, whole content of the pointed column should be in the window's menu.
Arrow was drawn just to show the width of column that is wasted.

I feel a bit foolish.
But I don't know what this "Workspace" thing is.

I know it replaces sessions...
But really? I don't know the advantages or disadvantages.

And searching on help.mikrotik.com, there are only brief references on how to launch WinBox via the CLI—not very informative.
And on manual.mikrotik.com, there is zero information about WinBox workspaces.

Where is this explained?

Workspace is mostly like session in Winbox 3 with one difference - Winbox 3 session had to be selected on login, but Winbox 4 workspace can be switched "on the fly" when already connected to device.

Thank you

Bug report: (SUP-219902):

Winbox 4 incorrectly renders a system note on startup.

4.3rc1 is fine, I like it a lot.

This version is very good, it's running very well for me on Windows 11. It was difficult to switch from Winbox 3, I've been working with Mikrotik for over 15 years and have that emotional attachment, but the 4.2 and 4.3rc updates made me more comfortable setting up the layout the way I like.

I have just one suggestion for the layout, I use dark mode, and when I make a selection, it's almost invisible to me because the shade of blue in the selection is too dark. If possible, please use a lighter color or a way to customize this selection color.

Otherwise, good work Mikrotik team.
