Is that also possible to implement the ability to download files via drag-and-drop (like WinBox 3)? Currently drag-and-drop only supports uploading files.
The file names have (part of) a hash code appended so there should be no clash between different RouterOS versions. Here are the examples for 7.25beta3 and 7.24.2:
There appears to be an unused(?) white area, about one textline high, at the bottom of all windows that are showing a table. When the window is resized so that it just can contain the table (or was sized before in 4.3) a scrollbar appears.
Will we ever get a Routing->BGP->Session window that auto-refreshes the same way it did in RouterOS v6?
(i.e. the status of the sessions is correct, the number of messages and prefixes updates, etc)
When RouterOS v7 fouled that up, the remark from MikroTik was that it would require a new WinBox version to fix that. But after 2 years of WinBox v4 it still isn't working...
There is an issue with the Terminal window inside Winbox4
In Winbox3 it seemed to be able to automatically detect the correct syntax for sending the backspace key
Winbox4 always sends Ctrl+? (or ASCII key 127) which is more common, but some devices expect Ctrl+H (ASCII key 8) instead. Huawei in particular, and I use winbox3 to Telnet/SSH into them quite regularly
It should not be a global Winbox setting as then it will cause issues when using multiple terminal windows to different devices, but maybe if we could right click on the header of the terminal session and choose which ASCII key is used for backspace. Or just have it detect automatically as it did in Winbox3
This is a problem at both sides of the connection, rarely anyone implements that correctly. Over the years, I have become accustomed to Backspace not erasing a character but echoing ^? instead, and then typing Ctrl-H instead. When typing passwords it often results in a failure because you see no echo.
The telnet protocol avoids this issue by defining a special sequence sent over the TCP connection to erase a character and the client should convert the local Backspace convention to that sequence, the server should convert it back to its local convention, and it works. But simple implementations in routers and similar devices usually do not implement that, and it fails in the way you describe.
With SSH, the client is allowed to configure the remote PTY according to the terminal emulator.
So it’s possibly the remote simply fails to conform to the request to set a different erase character.
Since the ssh client itself didn’t change and previously worked fine with different servers, I assume the terminal emulation in winbox3 previously matched the (now failing) remote PTY regardless of the request, and it happened to work fine. Now when winbox4 uses a diffrent character, it essentially exposed the failure of the remote to conform to the requested configuration.
That’s at least my best guess. It could still be some obsecure bug in the ssh client or the terminal emulator itself.
When you go to delete something that is a part of the builtin config with Winbox4.4rc1, the error message is in the bottom corner of the screen. On larger screens that can get missed.
Winbox 3.43 the error message is in the centre of the Winbox window.
I'd suggest it displays either in the centre of the Winbox window or attached to the window where you tried to delete the builtin config like below.
I would argue for a setting toggle that completely disables those popups.
IMHO they are useless and just get in the way.
If I select something on a table, and I delete it, I don't need a popup to know that it was deleted. It's gets removed from the table the moment I click delete.
Most operations have a direct feedback already. I don't know what the point of those popups is exactly... maybe someone thought they would look good on promotional videos - despite being essentially of no actual use.
For the redo button.
When there is nothing to redo, perhaps cross it out or change its colour or make it vanish
For the undo button
If I make change A, then change B and then change C. Now if I want to undo just change A I have to undo change B and C first. Perhaps if you hover or click on the undo button it gives you a list which you could select exactly what you want to undo.
At the very least the undo/redo buttons should tell you what they are going to undo/redo if you click on it.
