wireless + ethernet on audio app config

Hi,

I would use my MikroTik map2nD for the next audio config:

  • there is an A&H CQ18 digital mixer with wifi AP or ethernet connection
  • there is an dbx DriveRack PA2 xover with ethernet connection
  • both have iPad app for configuration, so I would use them in the same time in live situations

I have used the config with an old Asus repeater like this:

  • the A&P as wifi AP
  • the Asus as wifi repeater connected to the A&H
  • the dbx connected to the Asus by ethernet

This worked nicely, but the Asus was to big box, so that I have chosen the MikroTik map2nD to make it more comfortable. But unluckily I could not define the same configuration… I have tried several config on the Quick Set, but non worked for me. I have tried the nexts:

version a

  • The map2nd connected to the H&A in CPE mode.
  • The map2nd got the same SSID. THe iPad could connect to the wlan, and there app of the dbx worked nicely.
  • But the app of H&A could not connect the the mixer…
  • If I switch of the H&A, the map2nd wlan still visible, but the dbx cannot be reach. Maybe no more proper IP address?

version b

  • the map2nd is on wisp or home AP mode
  • both hardware connected by ethernet to the map2nd
  • the iPad connect to the wlan, but none of the hardware can be seen .

As I see, the config of the MikroTik is more complex, than a regular AP/repeater… Is there a simple way to use it for my purpose? This is a nice small box, fit in my setup, but does not want to the, what is necessary for me.

best, Dezso

Quick set should be specifically for User friendly users but from my experience it is easier to write what you want to achieve and configure it from scratch following the various steps. Describe in detail the result needed and let’s see if someone can help

If I get it right, the CQ-18T will be “main” device, connected wirelessly with the mAp, and the mAp connected via ethernet cable to the Driverrack.

From what I can understand, the CQ-18T works as Access Point.

This means that the mAp needs to be configured as client, i.e. in Mikrotik jargon, as station.or CPE.
So the base should be your version a.

Try returning to your (only partially) working version a, then follow these instructions and post your configuration:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/forum-rules/173010/1

Yes, a) version seams to be good, but did not really work, because I have lost the connection of the CQ, although it was the AP… I don not really understand…
And now everything is even worst: in none of the versions I can see the DriveRack.

So Quick Set did not work for me. An the “complex” config is a nightmare for me . I am not a really expert…

I think, by the several try some options was changed in the ethernet or DHCP or Firewall or anything… The reset did not resolve it.

So, lets try to describe exactly what I need:

  • I have the two audio hardware (CQ-18T and dbx DriveRack PA2)
  • I have a mAp2nD
  • I want to config everything by an iPad
  • two potential config would be beneficial:
    a)
  • CQ-18T is an wlan AP
  • the Driverack is on ethernet by the mAp
    b)
  • mAp is an AP
  • both audio is on ethernet

Version b) seams to be an easy choice. But does not work even in Home Ap or Wisp AP mode. I see on the menu of the CQ, that there is no proper IP number on that.

Well, if the CQ-18 Is an AP, It Is an AP and will never become a client device.

If you can have the two devices near between them and connect both via ethernet to the mAp then yes, you can have the mAp configured as a bridge for the two ethernet ports and have the wifi either bridged or routed.
But you will need to dirty your hands with RoS commands/configuration, as I don’t think that you can get any of the above working Just with this or that available Quickset.

 Some dirt on my finger is not a problem. I tried to figure out what is on the detailed configs, but there was too much new items to understand easily… Years ago I have configed smb or virtual machine in Linux, so I am not a totally newbe, but no experiences here in networks. And I did not think, a router config on this mAp is such a complex topic, as by an old Asus it was 2 minutes.

So, If I understand you well, the bridge option should be made between the wifi and the ethernet ports. Actually, the two ethernets should not be connected.

Good news
After a new restart and reset the iPad app of mAp configed the mAp for AP-bridge, and the eth2 port now is bridged to the wifi, as I can see in the detailed config. And it works nicelly
I just cannot find, how to add eth1…

And ready!
The (+) icon did it. Actually, there was 20-30 options to modify, and non said: eth1, but after OK, it was there…
Thanks for all the suggestions!
