It is possible make rb2011 with wifi and Rackmount case?
We have a lot of customers who need it …
Or start selling separate rackmount case.
Thanks!

what is the use case for a rack-mountable wireless router?
Putting a wireless device in a metallic rack is not very useful.
I never really understood why people do that. The other day at site I found an access point inside of a grounded rack…

Many companies have patch panels in the center of each corridor, a wireless Cloud Router Switch would be great. New modern houses also has patch panels, where a rackmount unit with wireless would be good. All rackmounted units cost $10 less than the modell with wireless, I would be happy to pay extra for a wireless option in the following products.
CRS125-24G-1S-RM
RB2011UiAS-RM
CRS226-24G-2S+RM

Hi Janisk. Thanks for reply.
A lot of our customers (and small Business) have in home rack. In rack is rb2011UiAS-RM and on rack (outside) is wifi TPlink, Asus, atc…
Customers want to have everything in one device…
rb2011UiAS-2HnD have mmcx connectors inside.
with pigtail - http://www.i4wifi.eu/en/By-Brand-Manufacturer/WaveCon/MMCX-to-RSMA-RG178-200mm-90-angled.html
and antenna http://pimages.solidsignal.com/TL-ANT2408C_medlrg.jpg
Ideal solution - all in one ![]()
If you make RB2011UiAS-2HnD-RM with rsma on the back (without antenna), then is possibility have router in rack and wifi antenna on the top of rack.
It is possible that we will see RB2011UiAS-2HnD-RM in the future? If not, please start selling separate rackmount case
Thanks!
At todays times I was really long time not hearing anything about those
wishes, but before a long time many peoples, like @honzam where asking
for those cases, but I really know only one company who was producing
one case such as @honzam is looking for! But I am sorry not for the MikroTik
RB2011 series because of the long time ago those cases where sought after.

@honzam please click on the image and you will be able to see the antenna holes
on the back site (rear) you are able to click out only the metal shape and the hole
is opened.

Ok, as I told first it is not done for the RB2011 series but with a RB493AH or RB493G
and a miniPCI WiFi card you will be get also a really fine running WiFi router in a 19" case.
Please don´t forget you are buying the 19" case and the mounting plates for each board
must be bought separately and exact matching the board you want to drive in.

home user - having switch and 2 NAS in rack and RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN on it,… … RB2011UiAS-2HnD-RM would be definitely preferred solution.

If each new RouterBoard will be sorted with an ordinary miniPCIe slot
with support for mSATA, Modem and WiFi each of us will be able to
fit his own and different needs and it dosen´t matter what kind of
needs or interests we all have.
In this situation honzam only needs to insert a Ubiquiti wireless miniPCie card
and all will be running smooth the next one needs hard log file storage space
and insert a mSATA and the next one needs a modem line to the Router and
adds a modem, so I am really interested what should be the entire cost
of an miniPCIe slot with SIM slot on each new RouterBoard?
Anny comments or suggestions?
Well. We can stop ask for new functions. Or mikrotik can produce some kind of jigsaw puzzle some “lego” or something like arduino - but for network… the question is if there can be sold enough pieces in order to pay for development.

I guess it is good that everyone can ask for everything and mikrotik will produce whatever they would like.

What bothers me is that the circuit boards are identical, except that the rack-mounted products lacks some semiconductors. Why not assemble all semiconductors on every products and let the customer decide if he needs it?
Any comment from MT?
hi,
i have bought a
CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN and a
CRS125-24G-1S-RM, changed the boards, added 2 pigtail and magnetic antennas outside the rack.
now i have a
CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-RM and a
CRS125-24G-1S-IN.
mikrotik should sell the cases and boards separately.

Yes. This is the solution. Buy two if you need one and switch them. I have already written on this forum that some kind of jgsaw puzzle like arduino would be nice to have from mikrotik.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I’m talking about all the time ![]()
Any news?
It better an cheaper to put a 951UI (dual chain wifi) on top of the rack and power it from ether 10 …
I don’t get the point of placing wifi inside a rack … or work with coax cables …
No, One device is better then 2devices.
Rb2011 or rackmout CRS125 with wifi is better solution. Coax cable is short for this purposes…
