cap ac as wifi repeater + ethernet2

Hello everybody,

I am trying to use the second ethernet interface of my cap ac to connect the printer to my network.
So the ap for the printer is using repeater mode to increase the wifi of ap which is connected to my network by a cable.

Is it possible to connect the printer to my network via repeater mode through eth2?

Yes. You can do this one of 2 ways.

  • On both CAPACs make a bridge with WLANs and ETHs as member ports.
  • Make both CAPACs access points.
  • Enable WDS dynamic mesh on both access points.
  • Voila your printer will now connect wirelessly to whichever is the strongest signal or via cable if you prefer.

OR

  • On both CAPSACs make a bridge with WLANs and ETHs as member ports.
  • Make the first CAPAC an access point.
  • Set the second CAPACs radio to be a Station Bridge.
  • Make a slave off the same radio that is a station to be an Access point - make sure this slave interface is on the same bridge as the Station and Eths.
  • Voila your printer will now connect wirelessly to whichever is the strongest signal or via cable if you prefer.

Only this part is not needed, because, as I understand, the printer has to be connected by ethernet cable.

Well there is a better solution.
Instead of using repeating, since it is not a good technique in our days and you have a significant loss in bandwidth, you can either use one of the bands of the cap ac (2.4 or 5 GHz) to create a PTP link between the two caps or you can create a station mode ( in any of the two bands you want ) on the second cap to establish a PTP link again and then create a slave interface to use as an AP…
