Chateau LTE-12

Hi!

I have run out of discspace in my LTE-12 router..

I only has 1-2% free discspace left, but I don´t have any large files on it. For the moment just under 400 KB in total.

How do I restore the storage size?

Ok.. I´d hope there was an easier way..

Thanx.

TL;DR: the low disk space is expected.

See:http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/chateau-disk-space/145894/1

One chateau I just checked shows V7.7 as:

 free-hdd-space: 884.0KiB
 total-hdd-space: 15.2MiB

With the following packages loaded:

/system/package/print
Columns: NAME, VERSION
# NAME VERSION
0 zerotier 7.7
1 iot 7.7
2 routeros 7.7
3 gps 7.7

OK Thank you. So a netinstall will not solve my issue then..

I have a unplesant issue, upon rebooting the device it will not startup at all. I have to make a reset on it (By holding the reset button upon power-on until i get blinking green LED, and then restore from a backup. I don´t know if this is because the lack of disc space, or if it´s a completly different problem.

Maybe it’s filled with core dumps of crashed processes. Do you have autosupout.rif file in files when it’s booted?

Also, I’d make sure you’re running the latest V7 stable. Also want might want to make sure you firmware matches the RouterOS version. /system/routerboard/upgrade

I’m not sure it’s the disk space that’s causing it not to boot.

Nope…

And also I will suggest to restore configuration from export file not backup after netinstall. It seems that backup image can have some disk wasting files in it.
I figured that out with on my Chateau, there was more free disk space after importing export .rsc than restoring from backup for same configuration.

Yes, 7.8, and with updated and matching firmware.

OK, Thank you. Will try a netinstall lateron. I need another LTE-router in case of emergency before I trying to netinstall my Chateau unit..

Don’t use logs with disk action which writes to flash/logs. That can also fill disk if you have large records limit and it is not recommended to have them on flash if you need log persistence because it can wear out flash.

No local logfiles on this device. All logs is sent to a syslog-server.

Maybe just try to recreate your configuration instead of restoring the backup?

It possible something go wrong in the restore process, that’s leaving the router in a bad state.

I get netinstall can be PITA, but it worth a shot if you really want to use restore backup. But again if an issue with the backup file/restore process/etc, it’s also possible netinstall might not work… Thus the top-line suggestion.

Ok, when I have a fallback LTE router on-site I will try to make an netinstall, and then restore config by using rsc file and see how this turns out.

it´s kind of risky, I know, thats why I want to have a fallback solution with another LTE device.

See if you have bad-blocks on output for:

/system/resource print

, that can also cause lower disk space.
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RouterBOARD_bad_blocks

Strange,.. My LTE-12 unit does not show any bad block information at all in the /resource menu. Not in the WinBox GUI that is. The information is missing out. My other MT devices do show that information. .

It seems it is hidden if there is no bad blocks.

Ok, that´s may be the case.

I have performed a netinstall on my LTE-12 unit. It didn´t solve my issues.

Prior to the netinstall I have run into a new issue. I can´t send SMS anymore (It´s type of vital in my config). When I trying to send a SMS the router responds with “Couldn´t perform action - MEMORY_FULL (6) (6)”.

The issue remained after netinstall (I tried to send SMS before any config was restored).

My ISP is limiting data to 50GB/24H. If I overshoot this limit I have to send a SMS and they give me 5GB extra per SMS. If I don´t send SMS they stops all traffic until receiving SMS.
