IMG file for flashing to disk

Is anybody interested in an IMG file of the RouterOS installation? This would mean you can use DD or Windows Disk image writer, to shoot the IMG file directly to your CF card, or external disk, then boot from it, and instllation will commence. No more CD or Netinstall needed (Netinstall basically has the same ability built in, but you must be able to run Netinstall)

If you think this is great, let us know, we will add it to the download page as standard.

That would be great!

Would be really great if you guys did this Normis.

I use this method - its faster and more predictable. This will be the install stage - fat32 with the npk files right?

This is exactly what I’m looking for…

Please release one ASAP! :astonished:

Any idea when to expect it?

and +1 from me

we will have an IMG file for download in the next v6 rc4 release (for x86)

Thank you so much!

great idea Normis

v6rc5 has the image file. it is on our webpage. please somebody test it.

Why isn’t there one for v6.0rc6? At least I can’t find it.
I had no problems with the image file you provided for v6.0rc5 by the way!

Edit: Oh, I just noticed the changelog says

*) fixed problem - netinstall for x86 did not work;

Maybe the image file is superfluous now…

good news form you normis,

can share a download link for the same ?

During upgrade of the download page (you can see that it looks differerent now), we have lost the image link. Sorry, we will fix it. For now, here is the link:

http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/6.0rc6/install-image-6.0rc6.zip

and - all files (including disk image) can be found in Torrent

Thanks for this Normis.
Very useful.

how about the dd command ?
is that just “dd if=install-image-6.12.img of=/dev/sdb bs=1M” ?

Paul

i download http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/6.12/install-image-6.12.zip file, extract and dd the .img file with command

dd if=install-image-6.13.img of=/dev/sdb
