Loosing configuration after reboot (7.1rc3)

Hi all,

With 7.1rc3 the RBM33G loses configuration (e.g. IPv4 stuff like IP addresses, VLAN’s, DHCP server, etc.) after power outages. After several trials I also experienced this configuration losses after simple reboots. This also happened after a previous initiated shutdown within the webfig GUI.

I didn’t experienced this with 7.1beta6. I therefore downgraded to this firmware. I didn’t try rc1 and rc2 on this RBM33G.

Cheers
Simon

I’ve now experienced the same problem with a “hEX S”

You are a next person who have that problem.
Please write it to support@mikrotik.com or help.mikrotik.com support portal.

Very thanks.

Hi, i have the same problem with RB951ui-2hnd, I cant revert to stable with netinstall either.

Thanks.

Search with google the version and platform you need (e.g. „routeros 7.1 beta 6 mmips“). I found the version here https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Router-Switch-Access-Point/MikroTik/MikroTik-RouterOS-MMIPS-Firmware-7-1-Beta-6.shtml

Upload it in files to root. With a restart it downgrades. I used the button ‘downgrade’ in /system/packages to initiate the process. I’m not sure if a normal reboot would have done the trick as well.

It’s annoying MT is not providing older development versions online. Maybe the version from softpedia has an integrated nsa-backdoor … but hey at least Internet access is stable now … :wink:

No, it wouldn’t. ROS doesn’t downgrade unless explicitly instructed to do so.

It’s stupid to advertise it. The fastest way to get infected.

Why not copy latest link, edit url and go to https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/7.1beta6/routeros-7.1beta6-mipsbe.npk ?

Thanks for the tip.

Agree.

Checked. Mailed to support@mikrotik.com

Didn’t MT request to collect v7.1 bugs in this forum? I’m new in the MT universe.
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/how-to-report-issues-in-v7-beta/133088/1

I checked, fortunately the two files:

https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/7.1beta6/all_packages-mmips-7.1beta6.zip
https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/7.1beta6/routeros-7.1beta6-mmips.npk
and
https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Router-Switch-Access-Point/MikroTik/MikroTik-RouterOS-MMIPS-Firmware-7-1-Beta-6.shtml

are identical (binary same).

Thx

Happened to me six times now - all on “hEX S” units with routerOS 7.1beta6
It works fine for a few weeks, sometimes months and then due to a reboot the routers lost the whole config (no config at all = 0.0.0.0).
Restored latest .backup > reboot > coming back without config! Restored from .rsc…

Upgrading now to Release 7.1rc4 - “improved filesystem and configuration storage stability” sounds suspicious ?
What’s new in 7.1rc4 (2021-Sep-20 13:18):

*) improved filesystem and configuration storage stability;
*) show “expired password” prompt for users with blank password;
*) other fixes and improvements;

The issue should be resolved in 7.1rc4, in rare cases where the configuration loss happens, there is a chance that configuration will be lost during the upgrade to it. As you would be upgrading from a version that does not yet contain a fix. Once you are running 7.1rc4, there should be no more issues with losing configuration.

I experienced loss of partial configuration on my Rb4011 with 7.1RC4 under normal operation, but unfortunately I didn’t saved the autosupout. Next time I will save it and send to support, I promise :wink:
It happend last week at night when I slept and next day I was can’t reach it over IPv4, only on IPv6, so I logged into it over IPv6, reboot it and after that I was can’t reach it over IP only with mac-telnet. All of the bridge config messed up, IF binding show unknown interface names starting with stars. After I fixed the IF names it works fine and I checked with success reload. The other thing which is messed up is this:

/system resource irq rps
set *1 disabled=yes
set *2 disabled=yes
set *3 disabled=yes
set *4 disabled=yes
set *5 disabled=yes
set *6 disabled=yes
set *7 disabled=yes
set *8 disabled=yes
set *9 disabled=yes
set *A disabled=yes
set *B disabled=yes

And I can’t fix this.

My rb5009 lost conf after a reboot, running ros v7.1rc4
