Now you are really nit-picking. This is the drawback of these kind of plugins I guess. Also device related as it looks OK on my screen/browser.
Per what I can tell discourse does check if notification email needs to be sent. In administration side email logs I can see that many are notification mails are being skipped cause there was user activity. If I figure out in which situation it slips up then I check if it can be fine tuned.
On my side it also does render fine. Might maybe be related to browser zoom or maybe font size set in profile? I currently also have it set to cozy, with smallest fonts configured in profile and 100% zoom in browser. No issues with rendering in firefox.
Out of curiosity:
Is this forum also hosted on an RDS? ![]()
WinBox 4 is the worst thing happened to MikroTik (as for now). And @toxicfusion is right. Even though the new forum is not THAT bad as WB 4, but anyway, the previous one was much better. People like using what they get used to and it’s absolutely understandable that they don’t like changes. Why the hell do you change something if it works? To show off? Or because nothing to do?
Glad, that you are not working in MT.
In cozy and default modes it’s ok, I was talking about compact mode. Browser zoom is 100%, using Firefox also. Opened on different screens with 100% and 150% scaling, same on both.
graaatz! well done.
now I need at least 20 chars ![]()
pressing like
As @teslasystems mentioned, it’s the “compact” settings that is not right
As a frequent forum user, you should have noticed that it actually did not work, migration was a necessary step. Whether the discourse was the right choice is another story.
Because of using outdated technologies and frameworks that are not supported anymore and because, while old users are used to it, new users expects a more modern looking, otherwise they’ll think the software is not maintained anymore.
I’ve switched to WinBox4 when they first announced it. It’s not perfect, but it’s still a beta software. I have not encountered any of the “worst thing happened to MikroTik”.
Well, from my side it just was unavailable sometimes, but overall it was good, I haven’t had any other issues.
Not sure how about others.
Anyway, as I said, it’s not that bad, so after some tuning I personally can live with that.
I can’t find my way around here… In the old forum, read threads were grey and unread threads were bold… How can I see that here?
OK. He said “compact mode” but in his screenshot it clearly shows “cozy” selected. How this is even possible?
This is a screenshot of @krisjanis post
I feel like in Spaceballs ![]()
While I agree that modern interfaces shouldn’t look like something that belongs in Windows XP (which the old forum wasn’t) , a “modern look” shouldn’t be synonymous with massive margins and padding, and something that looks like a not very well thought out port of a mobile app to desktop.
What is the sorting order for ‘latest’ here? At the top there is a topic with the last entry 8 days ago, further down there is one with 3 minutes, then one with 15 minutes. What kind of sorting is this supposed to be?
With ‘latest’, i expect the topic with the most recent change/addition to be at the top. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Haha, they would find that the Ubiquiti forum is way worse than this one!
I am active on a couple of different manufacturer forums, and they all have gone downhill, MikroTik simply could not be behind!
Don’t understand me wrong. I’m not saying the current UI in WinBox 4 is the best, I agree there are many things that can be improved.
I also totally agree that Discourse is not the best choice, or at least not the current implementation.
What I can’t stand is the way some people provide feedback, with things like “is the worst thing that happened to Mikrotik” or “I won’t buy any more Mikrotik products because of what you did to the forum, I’ll switch to the competition”. I call all of that bullshit and toxic feedback.
No, they won’t switch to a inferior router software, because the community forum had a platform change. They just try to amplify their small inconvenience and disagreement by being childish and throwing a tantrum about it.
People need to learn on how to give proper feedback if they want their feedback acknowledged. You can’t have a product discussion with someone that can’t take a no and their way of doing it is the only way otherwise they’ll get mad.
The first topics are pinned. You can unpin them manually. It was already discussed in this topic.
