MikroTik Chateau 5G R17 ax wont get internet over 5G/LTE

I’ve tried so many things but to keep it short, now this is my current setup:

  1. did a factory reset
  2. configured the APN as “internet.it” (value for Italian ISP Wind/Tre)
  3. disabled Use APN from network
  4. did a reboot
    all there rest is default

I can see the signal and everything, but the Internet IP is 0.0.0.0 and obviously there is no connectivity at all.
Pinging 8.8.8.8 results in a no route to host.

I’m clueless at this point

NOTE: Tested also with another ISP (Tim) and a new APN, which does not work either.
Both sim cards work fine on mobile phones.

Something you did not mention but I am assuming you upgraded to 7.21.1 ?
Known issue with this version on this device (see Release thread for that version).

Downgrade to 7.21 or 7.20.7 and it should start to work.

thanks!! My router came already with the 7.21.1 installed and following this guide Downgrading RouterOS - RouterOS knowledge base - MikroTik Documentation it seems that I cannot downgrade below the factory version :frowning: crap!! Any workaround?

That would be very hard to believe ?!?
7.21.1 is only out since some days.

Are you sure ?

Can you show output from
/system routerboard print

7.21.1 build:

is 2026-Jan-19 17:09.

Besides Mikrotik being very quick in manufacturing the device and installing that version, it would be a record delivery for Bartolini, Poste or GLS ...

I cannot tell to be 100%, I’ve received the device yesterday, anyway these are the output:

[admin@MikroTik] > /system routerboard print

   routerboard: yes

    board-name: Chateau 5G R17 ax

 serial-number: removed

 firmware-type: ipq6000

factory-firmware: 7.19.6

current-firmware: 7.19.6

upgrade-firmware: 7.21.1
[admin@MikroTik] > /system export compact

# model = S53UG+5HaxD2HaxD&RG650E-EU

# serial number = Removed

thanks for helping!

Ah, that makes more sense.

You can go as low as 7.19.6.

Download package and extra packages for ARM64.
Extract extra packages and retrieve wifi-qcom.

Copy both ROS and wifi-qcom packages to Files
Go to System / Packages and select downgrade. Then reboot.

Wrong (deleted)

yup downgraded and it works!! Thanks a lot!! Believe me I was about to return the product after having spent one night deep into configurations

I’m new to routeros hence I cannot answer you if that’s true or not, anyway logs shown also this:
# 2026-01-18 18:37:20 by RouterOS 7.21.1

the good news is that following the instructions above I was able to downgrade to 7.20.7 and it’s finally working

Good thing it was a rather obvious bug which has already received some attention.
That's why I immediately knew what had to be done.

However, I am still not sure you got the device with that version.
Are you sure you did not hit upgrade somewhere somehow ?

As a rule of thumb:
never use latest latest versions unless you are willing to test and dig into the trenches.
And keep an eye out for release threads.

Suvvia, ocche' scrivi?

[EN]
Come on, what are you writing?
Check the time on the device; it's not synced.

There are more Italians than you think here on the forum... if you need a hand...

You can find the minimum version you can install by pasting this command into the terminal:

:put [/system resource get factory-software]

Which has absolutely nothing to do with "Factory Firmware",
which is often the same version, but it doesn't matter in that regard.

Well, that's IMHO half italian/half tuscan.

100% Tuscan:
Ovvia, icche' t'hai scritto?

100% Italian:
Suvvia, ma cosa scrivi?

There are various dialects in Tuscany... not just the strict Florentine... :upside_down_face:

I believe that ovvia and the use of the present perfect (and the tu or t' or even tu t' strenghtening) are common also in the deep south (of Tuscany).

Anyway, no real tuscan would write in the present, either hai scritto o scrivesti, but not scrivi.

[EN]
I don't know what to tell you, here in the "South" (of Tuscany) there's not such a strong accent... If I hear someone from Livorno, Pisa, Siena or Florence, I notice the different accent, but here...

Then there's the difficulty of not having written exactly what I was thinking, like, "Come on, what the "f" are you writing?" etc.

Guys ...

Okay, we were waiting for a response from the OP...

I’m glad that there are other italians here  the problem was solved by downgrading; the clock was unsync because the device barely saw the world wide web. It arrived yesterday, and I cannot ensure that I didn’t update it immediately, btw … I’m happy that it works  thanks for the support!
