So… either improvished “Lite9” in one scheme
“L” is a Lite,
0 means no ethernet
0 means no wireless
and with “9” as the model name.

If follows “Exceptional naming”, anyones guess…

According to document, the leading “L” is for series

1st symbol stands for series (this can either be a number or a letter)

So nothing to do with “lite”.

But: it can’t be from “RB” series, because it should have only 3 symbol name for product and the 4th should already denote board feature … but “9” as board feature is not documented. New ax devices follow this nomenclature making them “RB” series devices.

Likewise it can’t be from “CRS” series, again board name consists of 3 digits (even if MT changed the rule to allow a letter as first symbol) while second and third digit show total number of wired interfaces. If MT was preparing for 100±port switch, then it could include 4th digit to expand range of possible number of wired ports … in this case this device might be a CRS series L with 9 wired ports. But I find this explanation highly unlikely.

It could be from “CCR” series, those have 4 symbol names. First “digit” stands for series … letter symbols are not documented, but could be MT is going to introduce another CCR series … an “L” series (it could be for “Lite”). The second digit is reserved (it’s being used as sort of generation number in CCR2xxx series), the rest of digits (two) indicates total number of cores … 9 cores is an odd (in two senses :wink:) number of cores in modern days, but we did have CCR1009 so it’s not unheard of …

I do not think is a MikroTik 1st april joke like EoW or EoH²O on old frmwares :wink:

Maybe this is a modular baseboard that can be populated with modules e.g. 802.11ay, 10gigabit networking.

Or maybe a storage/container platform.

Nice marketing video to promote the L009, but it’s missing 2 ethernet ports to be an RB2011 upgrade.

Love the form factor and price, but need dual band 2 & 5Ghz and, probably more CPU if it’s only 4x faster than the 2011. 2011 and the similarly CPU powered hAP AC Lite would reliably max out around 75Mbps using PPPoE for the WAN. One of these priced around $130 US that had dual band WiFi, and has a CPU a bit faster than the hAP AC2/3 so it can handle 1Gbps+ TCP over PPPoE with a default set of firewall rules would be a great seller (AC2 & 3 using PPPoE for WAN maxed out around 800Mbps over TCP with default firewall rules last time I benchmarked them).

i think in an effort not to “self-compete” with the hap ax3 they have crippled this reference with that CPU

come on guys !!! we are in 2023: high performance and single band wi-fi cant be in the same sentence !!!

this is practically a hAP ax Lite with a bigger enclosure !!!
