Not able to reset configuration via reset button: hAP lite

Hi guys,

I just purchased a brand new hAP lite, and it’s awesome, I love it except I am not able to reset the router’s config via reset button (I am able to reset it via System->Reset Configuration in the GUI though)

Here are the steps when I try with reset button

  1. unplug power
  2. hold RES button
  3. plug power
  4. wait until ACT flashes for 4 or 5 times(around 5 seconds) and release RES button

The ACT will soon stop flashing, and later on the router reboots

But the configuration remains the same, not being reset

Should I call the vendor and return it?

Hi n3120,

I recommend the following steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest firmware 6.28 smips
  1. unplug power
  2. hold RES button
  3. plug power
  4. wait until ACT flashes and then stop flash (with ACT and PWR on green) release the RES button
  5. wait 20 seconds
  6. Close winbox and open again to login

Should be with factory settings…

It works, but correct method is this (just tested on hAP lite):

  1. unplug the USB cable to power off
  2. hold the RES button with a pen
  3. plug power (keep holding button)
  4. when ACT LED starts flashing, release button
  5. wait some 15-20 seconds and ACT LED will flash twice, it means process is finished

i config in a bad way and i cant access to any control panel for update or anything else … ,
i cant update, the reset button not work
how can i reset factory it ?

hi there,

I have the routerboard 941-2nd
I have taken this out of storage as i’ve not had need of it since i first messed with it and i am trying to config it but i have forgotten the details i have used to “set it up” the first time.
Needless to say i can’t get this to reset using the listed methods nor can i get it to update (because i can’t log in)
it is currently running 6.36.3.

I have tried pressing and holding the reset button then powering up but the LED just stays on - I’ve been holding it for 5 mins before and it still stays on until i let go.
I have tried powering up and then pressing and holding the reset button - still not resetting to defaults.

so i need some help please.

By the lack of response is this something that can’t be done?

Try this exactly …

Before plugging into power, press and hold the reset button. Plug in the power. Count to eight seconds, then release the reset button. Wait for device to reboot. Then, via the ethernet cable plugged into ether 2, run Winbox and open the Neighbors tab. It will show up if things went well.

It still retains the original config and password etc

hi everyone

i have similar problem with same device, the reset is not working, i tried netinstall still not working, followed all instructions on all the threads concerning this issue still not working, is this hap ac lite a well tested routerboard, cause so many people hv complain on the rest button,
no user manager on my device packages i download the exact extra packages version of my router drag and drop on file click reboot and, that was the end of my device coming on and i just got it today, should i return this device? or is there a possible chance that it will work…

I have same problem i cannot do reset button. Sometimes work but all the time it cant do reset

i have successfully installed fresh routeros 6.46.8 haplite tc.. after installed it works and I have doubt if i unplug this it will not work again..and i am right after unplug issue again. Haplite tc notnworkin again

Same here. The reset button doesn’t work and I can’t get in.
