I needed Wireguard, so I updated my 3011 some days ago.
Wireguard works well, but I have some troubles with overall perfomance.
With ROS 6 at 3011 was not occured any problem with 500Mbit traffic, processor usage was about 60% while testing single speedtest or torrents.
Nowadays, I testing single speedtest and it’s maximum speed is 350Mbit Proccessor usage is about 90%
I tried test BTest with hAP ac3 at 1G link, and can’t achieve speed more than 350Mbit at UDP and 150Mbit at TCP/IP
I don’t see 100% processor usage, but can’t force it to speed up.
I trying torrents and other tests. Speed limit now is 350MBit. Very sadly to see it after 500Mbit at 60% before.
Main CPU-consumers is “firewall” and “networking”, ~25% and ~25% at both cores (I saw it in Profile).
Please, answer questions:
Is any way to speed up it with ROS7?
May be 3011 too old hardware and you recommend to netinstall it with ROS6 and don’t upgrade to ROS7?
there is a performance-hit when upgrading to v7, mostly the route cache is no more, so, if you do not have fasttrack enabled, you’ll probably not get the full speed that you expect.
60% of CPU can mean that you have 1 core at 100% and another in 10% or both at 60%
There seems to be an additional performance issue with the RB3011 when using a bridge.
I can implement my configuration without a bridge and achieve almost the same speed as with ROSv6.
I did a quick test with IPerf3 ( -P 10) on RB3011 and RB2011. Both default config (netinstall).
RB2011 with it’s weak cpu (600MHz) can almost keep up with RB3011 (2 x 1,4GHz). Just 80 Mbit/s more on RB3011 without fasttrack, 280 vs 200.
Something seems to be wrong with v7 and RB3011.
Thank you very much for your replies, I’m not alone with this problem and can stop to find the problem in my rules.

Hope they can fix this ASAP.
I use an RB3011 with RouterOS 7.2.3 and just this week moved from 500mbps to 1000mbps internet connection, only to be very disappointed with a speed test result of 593mbps. If I skip the RB3011 and plug directly into the modem I get about 950mbps. Also, I put the same config on an RB5009 with the same ROS version and got about 890mbps. It seems like I’m affected by the issue described in this thread.
I’d have the local brain trust verify your configuration for efficiency before jumping to that conclusion.
The fact that it changes when you add more CPU power (3011 vs 5009) suggests you’ve got a lot of traffic going through the CPU. It might be possible to offload some of that.
I thought I’d update since I posted that me-too earlier. I exported the config from the 3011, then reset-configuration and imported that same saved config back to it again and it worked fine, with ~940mbps achievable. I’m also using wireguard and capsman from the router, but neither is really used during a speed test. That 3011 was originally configured with 6.45.something and upgraded over time, I might guess that has something to do with it, but I don’t really know.
EDIT, I should say it was on 7.3 when I did the export/import thing.
