sxt sq 5 ax works as a station but can't get it to broadcast an ssid at the same time.

I have the sxt sq 5 ax and configured it to connect to my main wifi and act as a station …works fine when I connect my pc with an ethernet cable but I also want to create an ssid so it can broadcast and extend the wifi…any suggestions would be greatly appreciated…

So you want to use it as extender/repeater?
There will be a speed penalty, of course, usually for this role devices with two radios are used.
Each radio can be either AP or Station, not both.
But you can add a “virtual” radio as slave to the Station radio and set it as AP, the issue with a device like the sxt sq5 might be that it is a rather directional one, so the AP won’t cover a large area.

Some hints are given here:

Thanks for the info. I tried to add a virtual interface and have noticed that the wireless interface on the menu list is no longer available. I downloaded the wireless package and enabled it but it cancels out the original wifi interface on the device. I tried to add a virtual interface and set it as an ap but there is no master since the wifi interface is now missing.

Wireless and wi-fi correspond to two different set of drivers and to two different places in the configuration to make (slightly different) settings.

Loosely Ax=wi-fi (built in since version 7.13.1 or something like that) and Ac=wireless (external package).

Your device is Ax and you should run wi-fi (AND NOT wireless).

A device can run ONLY one set of drivers, wi-fi OR wireless, if you install the wireless package the wi-fi part of configuration won’t be available and viceversa.
