Terminal not permited <9>

Hey there,

almost noob here. Have not so much experience with Mikrotik ROuter OS,but I really love the Mtk products.

I did configure a router MIKROTIK hEX S RB760iGS for our customer, everything is going fine until… try to update today. When I go to “Check for Update” the error code appear : No internet !! Lol. I was going to try ping (everything works pretty normal as it should) and… cannot open a Terminal - not permited. Try to disable some eth interface - no problem - it does. But any admin stuff could not be edited/deleted.
I see some similar topics on google - some people states, that this looks like a hacked router. I have to admit that didn`t create any firewall rule when configured, and leave the admin password pretty standart one - “admin”. Did check the user accounts - there is no other than admin, i cannot change the password (in the dialog box the status is expired).
What are the options from now on? Is it possible to clean that mess without a hardware reset?

Thanks in advance

Now it's time to Netinstall. Reset to default configuration is not enough because the attackers might have left custom branding package on your router that will survive the normal configuration reset.

Thanks,

I am preparing another Mtk router to replace the “hacked” for a while. While I configuring the substitute router - bam !!! Same problem here. I did add some firewall rules, and change the password !!! OMG, how could be possible ?!?!?

After unsuccessful use of NetInstall - cannot see the router, I have tried at least 20 times. Meanwhile the router has been reset do factory default. I did configure it, but without internet at any interface. After all config finish - i did put the internet cable(s) in the eth1 and eth2 and now it`s running fine. Very weird. Is it possible to crash so fast after internet has been connected on it?

Yes, it can be a matter of seconds or minutes.

See Rules #3 and #8:

Netinstall can be tricky (on both Linux and Windows), there are several guides on the forum with various things that you can try, the more extreme (but reported as surely working) is making use of a VM, see:

Thanks a lot for help. Now, after re-setup the things looks fine. But I will still have to try this one with the one, wich is still affected. I will plan this days to make this happen.
