I have a Mikrotik cAP ac router at my disposal. I recently changed apartments and when I try to connect it in the new place, nothing happens. I changed the wires, followed the reset instructions, tried using WinBox and NetInstall.
Nothing helped. All indicators are inactive.
Make sure you are using the correct powersupply with the unit, maybe it got swapped with something else during your move?
Also, being disconnected from the power is often when powersupplies that already are failing do finally die.
So it may be that it is defective now.
I really don’t have it right now. But as far as I remember, only the patch cord was used during the first setup. And when working, only the patch cord was also connected. Do you think PoE inserter is vital for configuring the router again?
Which exact device model is it?
2)How are you powering it?
From what you write it seems like the device has not power at all.
The device needs power, they normally have a DC jack socket, a few can be powered from PoE (Power over Ethernet), but of course in this case you need to provide power on the ethernet cable.
Usually only one specific port supports PoE in, so you are using PoE the ethernet cable carruing it needs to be connected to a specific port.
I connected the wire in E01, and then tried it in W01.
As you have noticed, it seems that the device has no power at all. The indicator does not light up at all.
I connect the patch cord to the laptop connector.

If you don’t have these two (or if you didn’t connect them correctly) you will have no power. #1 takes AC from a wall outlet and transforms it to 24 V DC, outputting it on the jack #2 takes the 24 V DC from the jack socket and outputs it on the ethernet cable and needs to be inserted on the patch cord, data side to your laptop[1], PoE out to the router/AP, on the PoE in port, it should be marked on the Cap AC as Poe In/ETH1

[1]Configuration of/access to the device is normally done through the wireless connection, it is unlikely that you will have access to it from ethernet on ether1 unless you changed substantially the default configuration, as ether1 is WAN in default configuration, so, once the device is properly powered, if the wireless access is not granted you may try accessing it via ether2, see: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/mikrotik-cap-ac-setup/152980/1
Did you get that MikroTik device from some ISP or from the manager of the apartment complex?
It may well be that the device was powered by them.
You cannot just unplug that and plug it in somewhere else, you need to talk to the party who provided you the internet service and tell them that you have moved and want the service to be moved as well.
