There is no special padding there. Check whether that entry has a non-empty comment. Select it and press Ctrl+M and make sure that it does not accidentally has some space characters (which are invisible) in the comment.
Space characters are invisible? Who knew? I've learnt something today.
How would anybody "accidentally" put a comment in containing only spaces?
And why does the software not strip such stupidity out before displaying it?
By ceding control of the keyboard to a cat?
Is it possible to tint the comments slightly in both dark and light versions? Otherwise, they just blur together with the main confi
g parameters. I feel like it'd be much better for readability. Honestly, comments are a bit of a chaos right now, especially in the dark mode. Take a look at screenshot to see what I mean.
I have already asked several times for the dark theme to be improved.
What a piece of sheat! I haven't been able to connect to the router with this program for three weeks. Meanwhile, the old version (3.43) works fine. I managed to log in a few times, but the app crashed every single time I tried to launch the script section.
There is a difference between "not able to connect" and "crashes when I access script section". I think you need to probide more details, otherwise your feedback is just a comment in a few hundreds.
As soon as I switch to the script menu, I see "err connection lost! remote host closed the connection," and this has been happening for three weeks now. Everything works fine using the old WinBox 3.43.
Something's in your scripts WB4 can't digest. I'd suggest to capture error output by starting WB4 from a terminal.
helo,
probably i found a small bug on winbox v4.4 (and v3.43 as well).
on /ip firewall mangle tab advance column connection bytes, i can put 0-5M but i can not put 5M-0
but i can put 5M-0 for the same field on CLI
I find the WinBox's behavior logical, and it should stay that way.
For sake of context - value "5M - 0" in "Connection Bytes" field means all bytes over first 5 megabytes i.e. zero in the end does mark a value of infinity. Therefore this value in "Connection Bytes" field is actually valid.
In manual it says:
super { from: num , [to] -num }
Matches packets only if a given amount of bytes has been transferred through the particular connection. 0 means infinity, for exampleconnection-bytes=2000000-0means that the rule matches if more than 2MB has been transferred through the relevant connection.
And there is even an example connection-bytes=2000000-0. And it matches type definition also. So 5M-0 should be valid.
@prawira have you tried 5000000-0?
hi @infabo, yes i did.
when i put 5000000-0 on cli, it show 5M-0 with red color on winbox.
it works on cli but not on winbox.
That's an excellent argument!
- If it was working before, why doesn't it work now?
- If it works in the CLI, why doesn't it work in Winbox?
I partially share your way of thinking...
And I don't think it's at all unlikely that they'll change RouterOS behavior to align with Winbox.
Don't be surprised if that happens.
[Edit]
And to be honest? I think that’s exactly what needs to be done!
Enforce compliance using a single, centralized data model.
That’s the only way to ensure that the CLI, Winbox, WebFig, the old API, the REST API, and *******[1] all utilize the same validation structure and data model.
It avoids having to create specific validation rules for each of these methods across different sections of the codebase.
And after all that? Streamline and optimize the code!
What I’m genuinely doubtful about is the level of transparency MikroTik would provide regarding this, should they actually implement these changes.
- Would they openly state that they are imposing changes to ensure consistency across the various configuration input methods...
- Or would they just throw in a vague "improved logic for filter attributes"?
[1] Netconf. That’s my dream.
I know it’s almost impossible, but let me dream.
For me "5M-0" works without problems on WinBox 4.4 and ROS latest versions. As you have WinBox 4.4, what version of ROS does show this problem?
I want Drag-and-drop feature in "Files" for better download experience. (Like old winbox)
