Please, add sorting by COMMENTS on Winbox Welcome screen. Sorting by ip addresses is pretty useless. Maybe it is better to make additional column for comments, just like it was with Notes column in Winbox 3.
(Yes, I know about Inline comments setting, but I do not like how do they look, I just want “Inline comments” on welcome screen, not the whole winbox.)
AFter the update from what?
I would say it is pretty obvious he upgraded from WinBox 3.x...
I don’t keep an update log, and it seems the operating system doesn’t either, but it was probably something like 7.19. After updating to 7.22.1, it became impossible to use WinBox 3
And that is when you updated Winbox and discovered an entire new area of changes and inconvenience?
I would suggest first getting accustomed to it. I have the same problem when the look of a program changes completely, e.g. different fonts are used, and I have had to adapt to Winbox4 changes several times during the beta phase, which you have skipped by immediately going to 4.0.1.
After a couple of days it will feel just like it was before, and it is useless to keep asking for things to work as they did before, as that will not happen. Focus on things that can be resolved, like the bad characters problem that can probably be attributed to using an unsuitable font.
On my RB4011 running 7.22 I still get endless repetitions of messages like this on standard output:
Warning: qrc:/qt/qml/WinBoxQml/qml/WTable.qml:1836:25: Unable to assign [undefined] to QString (qrc:/qt/qml/WinBoxQml/qml/WTable.qml:1836, )

What does it mean and how can this be solved?
would it be possible to opensource Winbox 3 one day? Or Mikrotik is afraid RouterOS would get hacked because of that? One may dream…
READ:
Imagining… nothing will happen. The possibility of creating Winbox alternatives has existed for more than 10 years, yet there has been zero effort to make anything even decently usable. Talk is cheap; work is hard.
Would you consider opening up the protocol that Winbox uses to talk to the router, i.e. the differences with API and the structure of the “index files” that it is downloading?
In this case it is about 10-20 thousand connections to display without filters (It is IP/Firewall/Connections window). If this amount will be the threshold to start this “throttling” it makes WinBox 4 essentially unusable.
Another is the one in SFP tab.
That is a longstanding problem. I would say “get an intern scan all the lists and find what is duplicate” but apparently it is not that easy. Sometimes in the past such issues were overcome by changing the name of one of the items, e.g. “speed” to “rate”.
After resetting a hAP ax2 I could not login using WinBox v4.0.1 (Linux) using the mac address. But using WinBox v4.01 (Windows) I could login using the mac address. Is this a firewall issue or what?
Probably.
On the Linux box firewall, define a service:
• Service Name Winbox
• Destination Ports 5678 udp and 8291 udp
• Source port 20561 udp,
• Enabled for the main network interface
[slightly vague to keep this as generic as possible for different Linux firewall implementations]. ie the firewall should allow 5678 udp and 8291 udp to go out and 20561 udp to come in on the interface to the Mikrotik box. [Ports edited 21:04:2026]
Maybe MAC address has been changed which could happen if you didnt define Admin Mac Address but left it to Auto...
WinBox version 4.1 has been released:
My post with 50+ thoroughly described issues was removed by one ... let's say user with the cat on the avatar. I spent a lot of time gathering and describing them, it has received about ~12 likes at that moment, and this user just removed it. Moreover, he banned me for about 3 months. Now you can see how "grateful" they are.
The reason was:
Too combative
Posts are rude and straight up lies
So, the user with the cat, where are the "lies"?
You think, I was lying, when I said that the product is still beta? Yes, with such amount of issues it is. Placing 'release' label on it doesn't make it release quality.
Or you think I was lying, when I said that the app "was infected by caption removal malware"? You have problems with humor then and don't get the jokes.
Or you think everyone is obligated to love your half-baked app?
From the top 20 on the leader board, 3 have cats in the avatar. It is unfair on at least 2 people for you to put them under a shadow in that way.
