Winbox vs. Webfig

I usually the web interface (“webfig”) to access my Mikrotik devices. I have used winbox a little bit (Windows is a secondary platform here).

I am wondering what winbox offers that webfig doesn’t? What I can think of:

  • access devices by MAC address as well as by IP
  • faster/cleaner/smoother than web page access (though I have to say, the “webfig” web page access is one of the nicest, most responsive, and quickest I have ever used)

Is there more…?

Winbox is still the number one tool for us:

  • Router is searchable/configurable without knowing/changing ip-configuration
  • It behaves much better/faster than a web based interface and runs fast even on
    slower laptops

Would like to see a Android Winbox app.

ste, I don’t agree. Winbox eats a lot of CPU resources if you have graphs or rules open. Webfig eats nearly zero CPU (haven’t seen more anyway) and behaves faster.

Webfig needs the browser. Compared to winbox this is a giant software consuming a lot of resources. I like tiny little software which just does the job it is made for.
I’ve linksys switches which need Internet Explorer. A Funkwerk Voip-Solution which only works correct with Firefox…

Did Normis mean resources on the router, or on the client?

I don’t care when the CPU/RAM on my management station spikes but care a lot when it does on the router.

I meant router. Open Winbox firewall rules window, and watch resources window.

login webfig&When we open Usermanager payment default per page(20) than change to 500 or 1000 CPU router be 99%-100% for few second. This affect log at webfig some user from usermanger:Radius accounting request not sen:no respon. I didn’t saw at RouterOS v4xx. How to fixed it. I know user manager V5 more wonderfull than V4 or V3. I’m very happy if we change default page with 100 / 500 / 1000 without CPU % big.
if login winbox with same process CPU 100% few minutes :laughing:. My router 450G, 2 week later I’ll change with RB1100AH, I want know what the different
